Diabetes or diabetes mellitus (also called sugar diabetes) is a severe disease that is characterized by high blood pressure and sugar levels. Our blood always contains some amount of glucose, but only a specific level of glucose should be found in the blood, and high levels of glucose are not good for our health. Pancreas, a gland secretes insulin hormone to control blood glucose level.
It’s mainly of three types namely Type1, Type2 and Type3 diabetes. Type 1 is also called insulin–dependent diabetes mellitus/juvenile diabetes. Type2 is also called insulin independent diabetes mellitus. It’s the most common type of diabetes accounting for 90-95% of all types of this disease. Type3 is called gestational diabetes found in pregnant women only.
